Description:
Our client is looking for a Team Leader to join their production team in Port Elizabeth, EC. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to ensuring efficient operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining adherence to food safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Follow instructions from Production Supervisors.
- Delegate workloads to General Workers/Operators.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs and work instructions.
- Oversee loading and offloading of raw materials and finished goods.
- Maintain cleanliness of the workplace, production lines, and equipment.
- Complete production, cleaning, and traceability records, including food safety documentation.
- Supply packaging materials and consumables and assist with reel changes if applicable.
- Provide production samples for laboratory testing.
- Manage rework and waste removal from production areas.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food products (FIFO system).
- Relieve staff during break times.
- Assist with staff disciplinary processes.
- Ensure resources are available for shift start-up and breaks.
- Conduct locker inspections and process verifications.
- Provide on-the-job training for production staff.
- Enforce compliance with health, safety, and food safety regulations.
- Report any non-conformances or potential food safety risks.
- Participate in internal and external training sessions.
- Perform any other tasks as required by the company.
- Demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills.
- Communicate effectively and work well within a team.
- Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Uphold ethical standards, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach to work.
- Show commitment to organizational goals and flexibility in job responsibilities.
- Perform well in high-pressure environments.
Requirements:
- Grade 12, NQF Level 4, or relevant qualification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English/Afrikaans.
- Numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to quickly learn all operations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to delegate tasks effectively.
- Willingness to implement the company’s Food Safety Management System.
- Knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to work overtime and night shifts when required.
- Salary: negotiable.
