Description:
A renowned Aviation Engineering company is looking for a “Spray Painter (Top and Base Coat)” to join their team on a 6 month fixed term contract basis in the Somerset West. Very good salary on offer.
Requirements:
• Matric (Grade 12) or NQF equivalent
• Spray painting qualification
• Spray painting base & top coat experience
• Ability to final finish and apply base & final spray paint coats to produce good quality parts and products (this will be tested as part of the recruitment process)
• Ability to demonstrate the use of spray gun, mixing of different materials and top coat painting technique to produce composite parts
• Must be able to mask and prepare parts for painting.
• Acute hand and eye coordination
• Acute mathematical skills
• Basic knowledge of composites manufacturing processes and materials
• Good knowledge of finishing standards, spray-painting application techniques and spray guns
• Good knowledge of quality standards and customer requirements
Key responsibilities:
• Work according to work standards, work instructions, company procedures and requirements to final finish and manufacture, to produce quality parts. Must train others to the manufacturing standards.
• Manufacture, spray paint base & final topcoat, high quality parts, deliver on time, using approved instruction, materials, hand tools, spray, techniques, manufacturing equipment, in a controlled manufacturing environment.
• Work committed to daily target, manufacturing plan and delivery according to the requirements.
• Receive, prepare, final filling, sand, flat, finish, inspect, spray and final spray to deliver quality composite parts.
• Use different finishing, painting, preparation materials and manufacturing techniques to produce parts.
• Apply and understand different hand tools, equipment, skills and final spray-painting techniques correctly, to achieve the final quality finishing steps and procedures.
• Achieve customer quality requirements in gloss levels, texture and paint thickness.
• Clean and prepare paint mixes, materials, paint/spray guns and spray equipment.
• Correctly maintaining the spray booths and spray equipment at all times.
• Use multiple materials, jigs, tools and manufacturing equipment to finish and paint to produce quality parts.
• Resolve basic problems and report and escalate problems to the next higher level-(Supervision).
• Include preparing, finishing all types of parts, surfaces and paints coats.
• Do good records keeping, complete all manufacturing documents, check list, Routing label accurately and correctly, including Training records.
• Maintain workplace housekeeping according to 5S standards at all times (neat and tidy and all things stored correctly).
• Be punctual from start of shift, to and from breaks. Be on time and deliver on time.
