Buyers Assistant - Fabric and Trims

Description:

An opportunity has become available at our Head Office (Cape Town) within Cape Union Mart for a Buyers Assistant for Fabrics and Trims within the Green Thread Design Studio division. This role will primarily be responsible for assisting the fabric buyer in sourcing, researching, and procuring fabrics and trims needed for garment production, including tasks like managing supplier relationships, quality checks, and ensuring timely delivery of materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

Trims & Fabric

  • Follow brief from Designer on what is required for season – action sample requests with various suppliers :
  • Set up meetings with suppliers to view trim ranges
  • Liaise with suppliers to dye up and source sampling according to designers
  • Liaise with suppliers on price, lead-times and minimums
  • Daily follow ups on sampling
  • Do samples approvals with Designer or Buyer
  • Assemble “sample packs “ of trims per style for sample room ( for PP samples )
  • Uploading pics and references of approved trims ( in Sync )
  • Ensuring that sample room has enough trims , and ordering om their behalf
  • Control all fabric sampling requests for the Design Studio

Systems related work ( Sync and Oracle )

  • Raising PO’s
  • Monitoring trims stocks and forecasting for generic trims
  • Monitoring of PO’s and deliveries
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding orders
  • Processing of sample invoices (Oracle)

General

  • Answering queries from suppliers and the factory
  • Filing
  • Manage Fabric and Trim stock file
Requirements
  • Matric / Gr12
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous)
  • Candidates who have 1- 2 years experience in a similar role will be given preference
  • Computer literacy and Microsoft Office Proficiency is a must, excel advantageous
  • Candidates with Sync experience will be given preference
  • The ability to multitask and be organized is essential to the role
  • Excel and Powerpoint proficiency would be beneficial
