Job Summary:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Vehicle Tracking Control Room Operator to monitor and manage fleet movements, ensuring the safety and efficiency of road transport operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking vehicles in real-time, responding to incidents, and coordinating with drivers and relevant stakeholders to enhance operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor vehicle movements using GPS tracking systems.
- Respond promptly to alerts such as route deviations, excessive idling, or potential security threats.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, fleet managers, and emergency services when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
- Generate reports on fleet performance, incidents, and route optimization.
- Investigate and escalate any anomalies or concerns regarding vehicle operations.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle tracking data and incident reports.
- Assist in route planning to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Provide timely updates to relevant stakeholders regarding vehicle locations and operational issues.
- Coordinate emergency responses in cases of vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or security threats.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in fleet monitoring, control room operations, or logistics is preferred.
- Familiarity with vehicle tracking systems (e.g., Ctrack, Mix Telematics, or similar).
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and make quick decisions.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Knowledge of South African road networks and transport regulations is advantageous.
