Description:
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee and manage their purchasing operations. This key role involves developing cost-effective strategies for sourcing materials, maintaining supplier relationships, evaluating spending operations, and ensuring timely delivery of products. The Purchasing Manager will also supervise a team, ensure business continuity in case of product shortages, and collaborate with senior management and the legal department on procurement-related matters.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cost-effective purchasing strategies for materials used in the business.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers while actively seeking new vendors.
- Evaluate purchasing operations, enhance product quality, and ensure timely delivery.
- Regularly communicate with senior management on the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production.
- Conduct cost analyses and improve payment and delivery terms, stockholding, and turnaround times.
- Develop risk management procedures to prevent product shortages and maintain a comprehensive Business Continuity & Recovery plan.
- Supervise a purchasing team and consumable inventory teams, delegating tasks across departments when necessary.
- Work closely with the legal department to ensure procurement contracts are favorable and compliant with group policies.
Candidate Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification (BCOM or equivalent) in Financial Management or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing.
- At least 3 years of team management experience.
- Strong ability to work under pressure and meet ambitious deadlines.
- Must have own transport and a valid driver's license.
- Willingness to travel between sites.
- Fluency in both Afrikaans and English is essential.
- High proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
