Purpose of the job

As a Buyer you are required to procure goods, materials, components, or services according to the scope of work and the material description. This has to be in line with market related cost, good quality with zero defects, at an agreed lead-times and within company standard purchase terms and procurement policy.


Specific tasks and responsibilities

Request for Quotes: Research and identify suitable vendors, understand negotiations techniques and conduct performance reviews on suppliers.
Sourcing: Negotiating offered pricing, search for alternative supplies if necessary.
Compare quotes be able to perform quote comparison analysis and recommend competitive quote.
Convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders in time.
Expediting order requirements with suppliers to ensure that supply meets client Requirements, and that vendor or shipment problems are dealt with.
Liaison with operational and quality control personnel to ensure

Requirements:

Qualifications/Experience and Knowledge Required

National Diploma or higher certificate in Procurement/ Logistics / Supply Chain Management Certificate (NQF4 or 5), Diploma or Degree. CIPS qualification advantageous.
3 or above years exposure to procurement i.e. Buyer
Exposure to relevant Heavy Manufacturing, Mining or Engineering knowledge
SAP Proficiency highly important none - negotiable
