Description:
Duties:
- Prepare pastries and foods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc
- Create new and interesting desserts
- Decorate pastries using different icings and toppings
- Monitor stock levels for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and communicate levels to Head Chef
- Check quality and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking
- Adhere to prep sheets and report to Head Chef on a daily basis
- Be available to assist with the monthly stock take
- Responsible for keeping bin cards up to date
- Monitor and log wastage on relevant log
- Costing and design of recipes and pastry related menus
- Ensure all stock is treated and stored with respect according to standards set up on regulation 918 or SANS 0049- refer to SOP
- Adhere by the Head Chefs instructions and training on food quality and presentation
- Be prepared to assist in any other kitchen department you might be needed
- Assist head chef with menu design, costing and implementation

- Previous experience as Pastry Chef, Baker or similar role
- Knowledge of food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
- Great attention to detail and creativity
- Strong organizational and leadership skills

- Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
