Qualifications and Experience:
An NQF level 8 qualification in Space Science, Astronomy, Education, Science Communication, or a related field. A Masters degree is an advantage. A valid drivers licence. A minimum of 5 years experience as a trainer/ educator in a scientific space institution. Demonstrated experience leading a diverse team. Demonstrated experience in educational program development and delivery, particularly in space science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Knowledge of space science concepts and the ability to communicate them effectively to diverse audiences. Excellent organisational and project management skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in using digital tools and social media for educational purposes. Background in creating multimedia educational content. Creative and innovative thinking with strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience working with diverse communities and underrepresented groups in STEM. Familiarity with informal education settings such as planetariums, science centres, or museums. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for events and programs. The role requires travel to various locations for outreach events and programs. Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment for events and activities.
