Purpose - The Engineer in Training (EIT) will be responsible for integrating theory obtained from a reputable tertiary institution into this Manufacturer’s operational and/or engineering work environment to ensure that we achieve an efficient operation and optimum availability of machines in the relevant sections. The Engineer in Training will also undergo a training programme that will ensure that he/she can be accredited as a professional and a make a meaningful contribution within the organization.
Qualifications & Experience :
• • Minimum tertiary qualification of a B.Eng. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
• • A M.Eng. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering would be advantageous
• • Computer literate
Key responsibilities :
• Performing practical assignments in specific sections of the workplace to align with theoretical engineering subject matter such as researching, designing, evaluating, installing, operating and maintaining engineering products, equipment, systems and processes.
• Performing diagnostic duties by executing actions related to; testing, inspecting, troubleshooting and fault finding, checking, measuring, recording data, etc. as part of practical assignments to make recommendations for design modifications that will eliminate system or machine malfunctions.
• Taking part in periodical prescribed assessments (theoretical and practical) and trials.
• Operating and executing all tasks safely according to operating procedures and legal standards.
• Taking part in protégé duties according to a personal contract and development plans.
• Assisting in the capturing of Maintenance data on Shopware and other cost management systems.
• Contributing to Cost Improvement projects by reducing prices of purchased goods and services.
• Filing and document management.
• Other administrative tasks as and when required.
