We are seeking a Civil Construction Surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting surveys on civil infrastructure projects, ensuring accurate measurements, mapping and documentation to support successful project execution.
Main Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute surveys for roads, earthworks, foundations and utility infrastructure.
- Perform accurate setting out of works to meet project specifications and tolerances.
- Use advanced surveying tools and software, including GPS, total stations, Civil Designer and ModelMaker.
- Analyse survey data and provide accurate calculations for construction planning and execution.
- Prepare detailed survey documentation, including topographic maps and volume calculations.
- Supervise Junior Surveyors and assistants, ensuring accurate and efficient surveying operations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies in surveying activities.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and safety requirements in surveying.
- Oversee the accuracy, accessibility, security and storage of survey data.
- Maintain and calibrate surveying equipment, troubleshooting issues as needed.
- Education: NQF Level 4 Occupational Diploma in Surveying or a Diploma in Surveying/Civil Engineering.
- Experience: 5-8 years as a surveyor in the construction industry.
- Willingness to travel to remote sites and work in demanding conditions.
- Knowledge of geospatial technologies and GIS applications.
- Familiarity with emerging surveying technologies and sustainable practices.
