Purpose of the job
The purpose of the job it to render technical design, manufacturing, operation and/or maintenance services
Key areas of responsibility
Design

Produce designs according to specification and within limits of production capability.

Manufacturing

Produce objects with material and equipment according to specification and recognised standards.
Quality assurance of manufactured objects

Maintenance

Inspect equipment and/or facilities for technical faults.
Repair equipment and/or facilities according to standard.
Test repaired equipment and/or facilities against specifications.
Service equipment and/or facilities according to schedule.
Installation of equipment and/or machinery.
Quality assured serviced and maintained equipment and/or facilities.

Perform administrative and related functions

Compile and submit reports.
Provide inputs to operational plan.
Keep and maintain job records and other registers.
Supervise and mentor staff.

Other

Operate heavy lifting equipment/machinery.
Assist production department with manufacturing of the product as and when required.
Perform standby duties as and when required.
Assist with internal projects as and when required

Adhere to HSE requirement

Comply with HSE requirements at all times.
Report all accidents, incidents and near misses immediately.
Attend regular toolbox talks and safety training.
Wear PPE and safety equipment.
Assess the safety of the work area continuously.
Report equipment that is not safe to operate, immediately.
Clean and store machinery, equipment and tools daily.

Requirements:

Education required/desired:

Trade theory
N3 or equivalent
Valid trade test certificate related to job
Valid driver’s licence

Technical Analysis Knowledge
Computer aided technical applications
Technical report writing
Production, process knowledge and skills
Knowledge of legal compliance
