Key Responsibilities:
- Executes assigned research and/or development-related experiments/projects utilising established and innovative procedures.
- Analyses, interprets and records experimental data in a timely manner according to established formats. Produces reports and documents; presents findings at internal group or departmental meetings.
- Summarises experimental results and reviews conclusions with supervisor/project leader. Participates in troubleshooting and investigations.
- Participates in routine laboratory maintenance, lab safety, ISO and QMS implementation.
- Performs work according to established internal safety guidelines and procedures, and as specified by appropriate external regulatory agencies.
- Establish collaborations with relevant staff members for validation and/or implementation of new developed assays.
- Train trainees and other laboratory personnel.
- I ndependently preparing samples and performing DNA extractions, including forensic casework samples.
- Capable of determining DNA concentration and making dilutions according to SOP specifications.
- Independently performing diagnostic and profiling PCRs, including forensic casework (secondary duty) samples.
- Independently loading the genetic analysers (ABI).
- Analysis of animal profiles and identity/maternity/paternity/ parentage verification.
- Analysis of animal profiles for forensic casework.
- Report writing for forensic casework.

- Laboratory Experience: 2 to 3 years
- Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: • Demonstrated Ability To Work In A Molecular Laboratory (Required: 3 to 4 years
- Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) : 1 to 2 years
Requirements:
Advanced scientific degree (Hons/MSc) in Biology, Molecular biology, biochemistry or related disciplines.
· Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience, including hands-on wet-lab experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to work in a molecular laboratory (required). Working knowledge of PCR and qPCR applications and technologies. Working knowledge of next-generation sequencing (NGS) applications and technologies is preferred.
- Equipped with knowledge of assay verification, validation and development.
- Ability to self-organise and work independently (required).
- Ability to prepare and present information clearly and concisely to groups (preferred).
- Ability to work with cross-departmental teams and all levels of employees (preferred). Strong communication and documentation skills required.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of word processor, spreadsheets, project management, and electronic document management software (preferred).
- Previous experience in ISO/IEC17025 and/or ISO15189 will be an advantage.
- Attention to detail a must.
