Description:
Role Objectives:
To support the CEO and develop and maintain an effective legal, compliance, governance, policy management and human resource function within the organization. The role will focus on ensuring prudent management of legal risk across the business while overseeing compliance, legal frameworks, HR, and operational management.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal:
• Drafting and reviewing legal contracts – Commercial and Human Resources
• Managing internal legal document review and production
• Maintaining the contract register (renewals, terminations, notices)
• Custodian of the company risk register
Governance & Compliance:
• Overseeing compliance with regulatory bodies like FSCA, SARB, FIC, and banking regulations
• Liaising with external compliance advisors to ensure all regulatory requirements are met
• Managing legal compliance for Company’s Management (CIPRO, MOI compliance, Board Meetings, etc.)
HR & Policy Management:
• Full HR service (onboarding, performance management, adherence to regulations)
• Onboarding service providers and performing due diligence
• Ensuring HR and compliance regulations are followed
• Supporting the CEO and CFO with daily operations and strategy and oversee HR performance
• Coordinating executive committee and board meetings, preparing agendas, minutes, and resolutions
Education & Qualifications
• Degree in Law
• Admitted Attorney
• Minimum 5 years post-articles experience in a similar legal, compliance, and governance role
Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of experience in financial services, banking, fintech, or crypto
• Strong background in legal in-house functions
• Understanding of compliance requirements across financial services (FSCA, FIC, SARB, Banking)
• Strong operational and managerial skills in HR and performance oversight
• Excellent Excel skills, with the ability to work under pressure
• Ability to pivot between legal, compliance, HR, and management functions as the business grows• Genuine interest in crypto/financial services
