Description:
Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a Maintenance Manager that will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations within the manufacturing facility to join their team in Randburg, Gauteng. This position will also include managing the maintenance processes, equipment, and staff to ensure continuous production while maintaining optimal efficiency, safety, and compliance. The role also involves implementing maintenance strategies, handling breakdowns, and optimizing resource allocation.
Top Responsibilities:
Maintenance Ownership & Reporting:
- Act as the maintenance owner in the TPM management system and update reports as necessary.
- Oversee the Defect Handling Process at the facility and provide necessary feedback for maintenance reporting.
- Manage the timely handling of breakdowns and equipment failures, ensuring quick resolution.
- Formulate a critical spares plan to reduce downtime and maintain adequate spares levels.
- Ensure regular servicing and maintenance of all equipment per the Plant Manager’s schedule.
- Manage the installation, modernization, and removal of equipment as required.
- Develop and implement a staffing plan to support company growth and expansion.
- Optimize resource allocation for maximum maintenance efficiency, minimizing production disruptions.
- Lead training, development, and performance management for the maintenance team.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Develop and enforce safety procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Oversee the control of spare parts, tools, and equipment, conducting monthly counts and reconciliation.
- Identify and manage engineering projects, contributing to improvements in the manufacturing process.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for resource optimization.
- Address and assess risks related to maintenance operations, establishing contingency plans.
- Assist with the preparation of orders for maintenance-related items and ensure the proper documentation is completed.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., Hotbake Retail Store Manager) for equipment maintenance when necessary.
- Maintain clear documentation for stock control and ensure all assets are properly transferred.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Millwright or diploma).
- Minimum of five years' experience in engineering and maintenance, preferably in the food or bakery processing industry.
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, with knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and automated controls.
- Experience in project management and implementing preventative maintenance schedules.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation processes, HACCP, and OSHA standards.
