Description:
An exciting opportunity in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town for a Procurement Manager to assist a busy team within a large, stable company.
You will have to meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor or Postgraduate Degree in Business Administration with a focus on supply chain and procurement
- CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) qualification is beneficial.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience specifically in procuring raw materials for a manufacturing industry.
- Proven experience in procurement management, including sourcing, negotiating, and contracting with suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed purchasing decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement procurement strategies that drive cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Extensive experience in sourcing raw materials from international suppliers, including managing import processes, customs clearance, tariffs, and logistics.
- Proficiency in supplier management, including performance evaluation, relationship building, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in inventory management, demand forecasting, and supply chain optimization.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Deliverables for the role:
- Demonstrates and understands customs and beliefs of various groups or cultures and understands how these differences affect performance and communication.
- Provides continuous feedback to the Supply Chain Manager on the efficiency of supply and progress against order requirements.
- Evaluate and report on progress against the plan and provide solutions to problems/ obstacles that may arise.
- Safety stock management with suppliers to reduce cash flow output to ALC beforehand and reduce supplier PO changes.
- Motivates and manages the team to deliver through the consistent and ongoing application of the performance management system
- Reports on adherence to plan (OTIF)
- Supports Vendor Management team with supplier performance and efficiency ratings below par.
- Management of supplier base in terms of quality rating, OTIF, defect rates, adherence to stock level management, PO cycle, technology, innovation, reporting, and lead time management.
- Consistent evaluation on how to improve the purchasing cycle within parameters given of working capital.
- Proactively seeks out new opportunities to save costs on incoming raw materials and packaging.
