Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on trucks, trailers, and depot equipment. Carry out repairs and troubleshooting on trucks and trailers. Provide 24-hour breakdown support and emergency standby when necessary. Maintain and monitor the fleet and depot to ensure peak performance. Order and manage parts inventory. Conduct roadworthy and safe loading inspections. Assist with tyre changes and other related maintenance tasks. Perform health and safety inspections on fleet and depot equipment. Conduct fleet inspections as needed. Work weekends when required. Lead and manage a team effectively. Qualifications:
Matric or equivalent. Diesel Mechanic qualification. Valid Code 14 drivers license with PDP (advantageous). Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience in diesel mechanics and fleet maintenance. Strong knowledge of air brake systems. Must be available for overtime and breakdowns as required. Skills and Knowledge:
Computer literate. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet. Goal-driven and able to work efficiently under pressure. Proactive team player with a strong work ethic. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High attention to detail and focus on quality.
